How It All Began

Tasha and Angela, Touchstone’s founders

In the year 2000, Tasha vanderLinde and Angela Morse came together with a shared vision for extraordinary education.
Tasha had attended an innovative elementary school that became the inspiration for Touchstone. When she moved to New Brunswick, she was determined to bring the same transformative educational experience to the province. To make her vision a reality, she visited many different types of schools, learning from other founders and educators. She immersed herself in various educational philosophies, including Reggio Emilia, constructivism, unschooling, nature-based learning, and project-based approaches, and then set out to create the school she envisioned. Along the way, Tasha connected with like-minded parents who shared her passion for a more progressive, hands-on approach to education for their children.
The magic started when Angela came on board.
Angela was 23 and had just graduated as the top student in her Education class at the University of New Brunswick.
Angela is one of those rare teachers who understands how to nurture innate curiosity and sees the potential in every single child. Her high standards, not just for her students but for herself, are matched by a warmth and compassion that make her guidance feel both supportive and inspiring. Angela’s passion for fostering curiosity and creativity in children, combined with her deep commitment to hands-on, experiential learning, made her the ideal fit.
Tasha and Angela were Touchstone’s first principal and teacher. They are, to this day, colleagues, friends, collaborators, and each other’s greatest inspiration.
Angela moved into the role of principal in 2013.
Since 2000, hundreds of students have experienced extraordinary learning at Touchstone.
